On 1st July 2021 The International Society of Neglected Tropical Diseases (ISNTD) hosted the first ISNTD Connect on Digital Diagnostics, an event in partnership with the Digital Diagnostics for Africa Network and focused on molecular digital diagnostics technology for tackling infectious diseases inflicting a substantial burden of morbidity and mortality in Africa.
Dr Francis Krampa, from the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) at University of Ghana, and Dr Nicolas Moser, from the Centre of Bio-Inspired Technology at Imperial College London, outlined the huge gaps in access to gold-standard laboratory diagnostics across Africa and how technology can provide a transformative solution to this, well beyond filling the this diagnostic gap.
